Protecting children from the growing threat of measles has become a national priority. In this context, Surjer Hashi Network clinics are actively supporting the Government’s Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign by implementing immunization activities at the community level. Through the dedicated efforts of Surjer Hashi health workers, thousands of children are receiving free measles-rubella vaccines through Surjer Hashi clinics across the country. This initiative is playing an important role in preventing the spread of disease, reducing child mortality, and safeguarding the health of future generations.
Every year, in support of the Government’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) as well as through its own initiatives, Surjer Hashi provides millions of children with life-saving vaccines. These include vaccines against tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, hepatitis, influenza, pneumonia, polio, measles, rubella, diarrheal diseases, chickenpox, and cholera—many of the most common vaccine-preventable illnesses. These efforts play a vital role in ensuring immunization coverage and reducing the risks of disease and death among children.
As part of its longstanding commitment to child health, Surjer Hashi has administered nearly 5 million vaccine doses over the past five years based on recorded data alone. However, during large-scale vaccination campaigns, the intense workload and time constraints often make it difficult to document every vaccine administered in the field. As a result, the actual number of vaccines provided is believed to be substantially higher than the recorded figure. In addition, Surjer Hashi also provides vaccines against preventable diseases such as cervical cancer (HPV), tetanus, and hepatitis for adolescent girls and mothers.
Established with funding from USAID, Surjer Hashi clinics have served as a trusted source of healthcare for millions of people for the past 29 years through a nationwide network extending from remote rural communities to towns and urban centers. Through antenatal care, routine health check-ups, counseling, safe delivery services, and postnatal care for mothers and newborns, the organization has made a significant contribution to improving maternal and child health across Bangladesh.
Behind the smile of a healthy mother, the cry of a safe newborn, and the peace of mind of a family lies the quiet yet invaluable contribution of Surjer Hashi. Its longstanding efforts in promoting safe childbirth and reducing maternal and child mortality have become a valuable asset to the country’s public health sector. By providing quality, affordable healthcare services, Surjer Hashi has earned the trust and confidence of communities across the country. Even in the challenging reality of operating without donor funding, the organization continues to deliver essential healthcare services to millions of people, bringing care and hope closer to their doorsteps.
In light of the current measles situation, parents and caregivers are encouraged to check their children’s vaccination status and seek immunization services from the nearest qualified healthcare provider. Timely vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to protect children from measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
