To celebrate the contribution and achievements of women leaders in the health sector of Bangladesh, USAID’s “Advancing Universal Health Coverage” (AUHC) project and Surjer Hashi Network (SHN) organized a discussion on March 14, 2023, on International Women’s Day. The event, held at a hotel in the capital city Dhaka, was conducted under the theme “Women Rise: A Discussion on How Female Leaders in the Health Care Sector Empower Women Across Communities”.
Honorable Board Chairman of Surjer Hashi Network (SHN) Professor Rubina Hamid and Honorable Chief Executive Shaila Purvin delivered their valuable speeches on the occasion. Five female clinic managers of Surjer Hashi Network were honored with crests in recognition of their strong leadership and outstanding contribution. Clinic Managers- Rikta Roy, Rowshon Ara Khanom, Rebeka Sultana, Afsana Khatun, and Sultana Begum accepted the crests and expressed gratitude.
Panel discussion
The event included a discussion session, moderated by the Chief of Party, AUHC Project, Mr. Parvez Mohammad Asheque. The discussion was attended by successful women leaders who have contributed significantly to the healthcare sector of Bangladesh. Ms. Shaila Purvin, CEO, Surjer Hashi Network, Dr. Farhana Akhter, COR (Maternal & Newborn Health) USAID/Office of Population, Health & Nutrition, Ms. Zahida Fizza Kabir, CEO, SAJIDA Foundation, and Ms. Rubaba Dowla, CEP Pulse Digital Healthcare, MD & CEO, Oracle Bangladesh, participated as panel discussants.
