On October 10, 2024, Lions Club of Chittagong, Surjer Hashi Network, and Pacific Jeans Ltd. jointly organized a seminar on cervical cancer awareness and vaccination in Chittagong. The seminar took place at the Pacific Jeans Garments in CEPZ. The event was chaired by Ms. Rebeka Nasreen, President of Lions Club of Chittagong, with Ms. Kohinoor Kamal, Lion District Governor, delivering the keynote speech.
Nearly 200 participants, including Pacific Jeans employees, Lions Club representatives, and guests, attended the awareness session. Dr. Raufun Jakef Joy, Deputy Manager of Clinical Services at Surjer Hashi Network (SHN), led a session highlighting SHN’s healthcare services and its initiatives on cervical cancer awareness. During the event, 20 female workers received the cervical cancer vaccine, administered by SHN, financed by Lions Club of Chittagong. Additionally, Mr. Aminur Islam, Senior Area Manager of Incepta Pharmaceuticals conducted a dedicated awareness session as well.
Other attendees included Ms. Kamrun Malek, former Lion District Governor, as the special guest; Mr. Sayed M. Tanvir, Managing Director of Pacific Jeans; Ms. Luthmila Farid, Director of Pacific Jeans Ltd.; and Mr. Debasish Kanti Biswas, Manager of Surjer Hashi Clinic, Pahartali. The event received extensive media coverage at both national and local levels.
Following the event, Lions Club of Chittagong expressed strong enthusiasm for collaborating with Surjer Hashi Network on similar initiatives in the future.
